BLUESMAN MIKE & THE BLUES REVIEW BAND
BLUESMAN MIKE & THE BLUES REVIEW BAND
The Blues Review Band was formed out of Bluesman Mike's passion for the blues. In New Year of 2007 he decided to go back to his roots by spending his birthday gift on a bass guitar and soon started jamming with a great friend and co-founder of the band, Doug Hill. It was one of those evenings while they're jamming that they decided to form The Blues Review Band. The 1st original members were Scott Stuk (drums), Avi Edelson (Keyboard), Doug Hill (Lead guitar) and Bluesman Mike on vocals and bass. Soon, they're all over the valley doing their love and passion - playing the blues and becoming one of the hottest blues bands out!!! They all had a blast playing all over town but Scott had to go to college and their full time jobs required both Doug and Avi to leave the band. Now Bluesman Mike is jamming and doing gigs with Bobby Nealy, a seasoned and veteran keyboard player from Phoenix, AZ who has been playing for the last 30+ years including playing with the likes of Archie Bell and the Drells, along with his new lead guitar player who is another veteran by the name of Sugar Bear, from Philadelphia who incidentally has been performing for the last 20+ years as a studio musician as well as on stage, a producer, and song writer. To round out, and keeping the band on the one, is his new but also a veteran drummer, Tim Robinson. Tim was born in Germany and has been playing drums all his life. He played with Koko Taylor, Joey DeFrancisco, & Darlene Love. Tim has performed at the Monterrey Blues Festival in 2003 & 2004.
SUGAR THIEVES
SUGAR THIEVES
The Sugar Thieves have a sultry blues roots foundation, and powerhouse delta sound that will take you back in time. They also come equipped with a fresh new style, high-energy showmanship, and an original song list that brings music enthusiasts, of any age, to their feet to shake that meat! In 2008 and 2009, The Sugar Thieves won the Phoenix Blues Society’s AZ. Blues Showdown and were voted best blues band in the state. They went on to compete in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis (Feb. 2009/Jan. 2010) where they were voted one of the top ten unsigned blues bands in the world in 09, and won the “People’s Choice” award at the Old Daisy Theatre in 2010. The Sugar Thieves were also voted best Americana band in 09 by the Phoenix New Times’ “Summer of Sound Series”, and nominated for Best Local Band in Phoenix as well. The singular vision that drives this band is their plight to reintroduce what some call a dying genre, blues music, to younger generations and those that have simply forgotten. But don’t think you’ve heard anything like it before. The Thieves put on a show that’s worth writing home about.

MIKE ELDRED TRIO
MIKE ELDRED TRIO
“Mike Eldred is among the rare breed of guitarists who is not afraid of blurring lines in American Music. By bending all of his favorite musical styles, Mike has created his own original voice in modern electric guitar playing. HE’S WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT, BABY!”
- Brian Setzer
“The deeper “The Mike Eldred Trio” digs into American roots music, the stronger they sound” - Goldmine Magazine
"It’s like listening to what the Clash might have done if they had been born 20 years earlier..."
- Blues Blast Magazine
“It's not so much raw chutzpah as sheer love — backed by unassailable musical chops — with which veteran Southern California blues musician Mike Eldred puts on display in “61 and 49,” referencing the fabled intersection in Clarksdale, Miss., that's essentially ground zero in the world of Delta blues.
What makes the album such a delight is the masterful way the guitarist, singer and songwriter paces his trek through a rainbow's worth of electric and acoustic blues workouts. It's the sign of a journeyman who has spent untold hours playing clubs and learning the old-fashioned way what flies and what doesn't”.
- Los Angeles Times
Voted one of the best guitarists in Americana / Roots / Blues music, The Mike Eldred Trio is a roots “Super-Band” with Eldred (formerly with Stray Cat Lee Rocker) and John Bazz and Jerry Angel both from The Blasters! Their first CD (The Mike Eldred Trio) sent shock waves throughout the Americana/roots/blues community with rave reviews from Brian Setzer among others, and gave Eldred the title “best unknown guitarist”. The band's second CD (61 and 49) was voted of the Top Ten CD releases of 2011 by the Los Angeles Times.
The band’s newest effort is a multi-layered blues journey through Mississippi juke joints, prisons, churches, and the small neighborhood called Baptist Town in Greenwood where the legendary bluesman Robert Johnson was murdered in 1938. The trio invited several guests into the famed Sun Studio to lend a hand, and David Hidalgo, Robert Cray, and John Mayer help to tell a story of the dichotomy of the ongoing struggle between poverty and affluence, love and hate, and sin and salvation.
The trio’s 4th album “Baptist Town” is a monumental achievement in roots and blues storytelling, and will undoubtedly grow the trio’s already large fan base that includes artists like ZZ Top’s Billy F. Gibbons:
“El contenta completa”...! This is it. Enjoy this one, top to bottom, bottom to top. The Mike Eldred Trio makes the rounds through a blues-wrapped offering that is certain to satisfy. Rock it!”
SIR HARRISON
Harrison Begay was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, is full blooded Navajo (Dine'). His passion for blues music and the guitar have been the driving force in his quest for artistry. He started playing music at the age of eight. The clarinet being his first instrument. It would not be until the early years of high school that Harrison would pick up his first guitar.
Harrison first took the stage in 1999 at a blues jam in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Every week he returned and the audience wanted more. This was the time for him to learn, grow and work with other musicians. His first band would take on the name, "Colorblind", a power trio that was complimented by the tasteful bass-lines of producer and recording engineer, Leo Okeke.
In the summer of 2000 Colorblind was called to fill a major time slot that opened up at the Tulsa Blues Festival at the historic Cain's Ballroom . Wanting the exposure, his the band played for free. That night they brought the house down.
Sir Harrison's music and stage performance has attracted a broad audience. His guitar playing is straight from the soul. He's been compared to Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Cray, but Sir Harrison's guitar playing has his own unique sound.
His current band, "Sir Harrison and the Blues Kings," was formed in 2004 in Flagstaff, Arizona. The members are veteran musicians. Singer song-writer and bassist, Richard Neville who has toured with Poco, Vince Gill, Mickey Gilley, Tanya Tucker and guitar virtuoso Phil Brown. Drummer, Eddy Barattini has toured with Richie Havens, Stanley Jordon and is also an accomplished recording engineer and composer. Together their music is a combination of rhythmic patterns, all in a motion created by Sir Harrison's body language and soulful guitar riffs. It's smooth, funky, rock-in and whole lot of blues power.
