NINA CURRI
NINA CURRI
Nina Curri is an outstanding singer/songwriter based in Phoenix, Arizona.
Her music is introspective and real while performing traditional roots blues and originally composed material. After years of performing as a blues singer, Nina has developed the ability to meld songbird-like vocals with a powerhouse blues range.
She has had the opportunity of sharing the stage and opening shows for legendary artists like Ian Moore, T-Model Ford, Hans Olson, The Rocket 88's, Steve D. Reynolds, Jesse Colter, Francine Reed and Delbert McClinton.
Nina is currently in the process of recording her original material which will be released in the Spring of 2013.

Living in Texas for several years allowed her to experience cities rich in music and diverse in talent. Houston’s eclectic venues and 6th street in Austin gave her opportunities to develop as a well-rounded artist. In the Houston blues scene,
Nina shared the stage with legendary artists such as Grady Gaines, Milton Hopkins (cousin of Lightnin’ Hopkins) and the nationally acclaimed, Delbert McClinton.

Nina often performs in benefits for many local organizations with legendary artists such as Francine Reed, Dennis Rowland, Andy Gonzales, Hans Olson and many more. Chico Chism frequently invited her onto his stage and encouraged her to pursue her music. For the better part of 2010, she frequently shared the stage with a fabulous jump, swing & rockabilly group, The Jump Back Brothers in Phoenix, Arizona.

Nina also performs around the Valley through an organization called Chicks with Picks. Since 2007, they have been showcasing local and national female artists in Arizona. Nina was a performer in the first Chicks with Picks festival in 2008 that was headlined by Jesse Colter, Sarah Buxton and Michelle Branch.

Some of Nina’s festival performances include: The Telluride Blues & Brew Festival in Colorado; The Phoenix Blues Society’s Charity Festival, Blues for the City in Arizona; The First Annual Chicks with Picks Festival in Cavecreek, Arizona; The Creamy Radio Acoustic Stage at The McDowell Mountain Music Festival in Arizona 2007; The Chandler Ostrich Festival in 2010 & 2011.
ZUBIA BROTHERS
Although ostensibly a "new" project, making music has been a more like a lifelong passion for brothers Lawrence and Mark Zubia.

Born and raised in the overheated environs of Phoenix, Arizona, the gifted singer-songwriter tandem has become a veritable institution in the state, with a series of popular and successful combos. Notable among these groups were the Chimeras, a roots-rock powerhouse founded with longtime friend Doug Hopkins. Sadly, the late guitarist, who founded and led the Gin Blossoms to multi-platinum success, committed suicide. After Hopkins' passing the Chimeras regrouped, eventually morphing into the Pistoleros. With the name change also came a major label recording contract. The group's Hollywood Records debut Hang On To Nothing found the Zubias collaborating with a number of notable colleagues, including members of the Jayhawks and Smithereens. While the Pistoleros furthered their recorded legacy with a self-titled effort and the concert collection, Bars and Guitars, the Zubia brothers' project, Voices on the Street, marks the first time the pair has recorded under the family name.

Utilizing some 30 years of music making experience and savvy - the Zubias began their careers as toddlers backing their father, a professional mariachi - the brothers' new sound includes a heady mix of roots, country, mariachi and classic pop traditions. Their debut, produced by Jesse Valenzuela (Gin Blossoms, Stevie Nicks) and Michael Blum (Madonna, Suicidal Tendencies, New Radicals), reshapes the brothers' well-defined sound, adding a post-modern edge without sacrificing any of their roughhewn charm and rock 'n' roll spirit. Also helping bring the Zubia's songs to life are a talented cast of collaborators including songwriter Gary Louris (Jayhawks, Golden Smog) drummer Gary Mallaber (Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, Steve Miller) keyboardist Herman Jackson (Stevie Wonder, Tone Loc), and many others.

Although their tales of love and loss often involve emotional chaos, it's a turmoil offset by some of the most beautiful genetic harmonies and inviting melodies imaginable.

Mark and Lawrence are currently working on a second recording under the Zubia Brothers name. While they occasionally play with The Pistoleros, LZ also fronts The Persuaders and plays in an acoustic duo, and MZ sings and plays guitar in his band Los Guys and acoustic duo Los Thieves.
THE ROCKET 88s

The Rocket 88s are well seasons professional blues musicians touring most of the USA through the years and exciting European audiences. Bill Tarsha, playing harmonica since the mid 60s, is a nationally known world class player winning top harmonica acclaim since the early 1970s.
GEORGE BOWMAN
GEORGE BOWMAN
George was born in Mississippi. Although he sang in the church choir, music became important in his life only after his family relocated to Phoenix in the mid 1960's.

Dyke of Dyke & The Blazers managed the apartment complex the Bowmans lived in. Thus, George met Dyke and the band close up. That experience left him in awe and inspired him to become a professional singer. He befriended singer Rochelle Whitehead and drummer Delmar Stewart in the late 60's and formed a show band "Memphis Soul" which enjoyed great popularity for years.

George continued as lead singer with various bands including: "Soul on Ice" (mid to late 70's), "Pyramid" (early 80's), "Nitekap" (mid 80's) "Spectrum" (early 90's) In the mid to late 90's he performed and toured with Lucious Parr's band "Street Life."

In 1999 George won the Arizona Blues Showdown.

In recent years he has mainly focused on song writing and released 'Badd Boy' (2002) and 'Hoochie Coochie' (2004) which are selling well overseas.

He has opened for many acts such as Charles Brown, Sweetwater, Taj Mahal, Dr. Hook, Buddy Miles and many more.

George continues to do occasional showcases featuring some of Phoenix' best musicians and R&B artists.
