As a self-contained vintage r&b and soul band, Soul Power has evolved into undoubtedly one of the hottest acts in the Metro-Phoenix area and has gained a tremendous base of loyal fans. With smooth vocal harmonies and tight rhythms, this group has what it takes to attract, excite, and sustain a crowd. Soul Power’s song list ranges from the soulful Motown sound (Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, etc...), and the “Sound of Philadelphia” (Ojays, Teddy Pendergrass, Lou Rawls, etc...) to the funk sounds of artist such as Sly & the Family Stone, Rick James, Cameo, Parliament/Funkadelic, as well as the classic Blues. Most alluring are the scorching renditions of unforgettable love ballads which add the finishing touch by way of this timeless outfit of Phoenix’s finest performers. Soul Power band approaches each performance with enthusiasm and professionalism which keeps audiences coming back for more. Voted one of the best guitarists in Americana / Roots / Blues music, The Mike Eldred Trio is a roots “Super-Band” with Eldred (formerly with Stray Cat Lee Rocker) and John Bazz and Jerry Angel both from The Blasters! Their first CD (The Mike Eldred Trio) sent shock waves throughout the Americana/roots/blues community with rave reviews from Brian Setzer among others, and gave Eldred the title “best unknown guitarist”. The band's second CD (61 and 49) was voted of the Top Ten CD releases of 2011 by the Los Angeles Times.
The band’s newest effort is a multi-layered blues journey through Mississippi juke joints, prisons, churches, and the small neighborhood called Baptist Town in Greenwood where the legendary bluesman Robert Johnson was murdered in 1938. The trio invited several guests into the famed Sun Studio to lend a hand, and David Hidalgo, Robert Cray, and John Mayer help to tell a story of the dichotomy of the ongoing struggle between poverty and affluence, love and hate, and sin and salvation.
The trio’s 4th album “Baptist Town” is a monumental achievement in roots and blues storytelling, and will undoubtedly grow the trio’s already large fan base that includes artists like ZZ Top’s Billy F. Gibbons:

BAD NEWS BLUES BAND
The Bad News Blues Band has been gaining a reputation for house burning live performances all over the United States as well as Canada, Mexico, Turkey, Romania, Ireland, the U.K. and even Moscow Russia! With their latest ARV Records release, "Still Cadillacin'" produced by Richard Medek and mixed by Teddy Morgan, they're set to hit the road and spread the word with the fire and intensity that their live shows are renowned for worldwide.

In the Thirteen years since the band was formed they have won many local and regional awards including first place in the 1997 and 2002 Arizona Blues Shootout. Winning the shoot out earned them a spot at the International Blues and talent competition in Memphis Tennessee sponsored by the Blues Foundation. The band has the distinct honor of being the first blues band ever to be added to the artist roster for the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.

After touring at length with Texas guitar legend Long John Hunter, The Bad News Blues Band is making a name for themselves with upcoming performances, club dates and festivals across the country.

The Rocket 88s have been a solid fixture in the Arizona music scene since the mid 1970s and in the national blues scene...

The Rocket 88s cd "AZ Bootin" with legendary sax player Big Jay McNeely was a 1988 Grammy Award Nominee for best traditional blues recording.

The Rocket 88s are well seasons professional blues musicians touring most of the USA through the years and exciting European audiences. Bill Tarsha, playing harmonica since the mid 60s, is a nationally known world class player winning top harmonica acclaim since the early 1970s.

The Sugar Thieves have a sultry blues roots foundation, and powerhouse delta sound that will take you back in time. They also come equipped with a fresh new style, high-energy showmanship, and an original song list that brings music enthusiasts, of any age, to their feet to shake that meat! In 2008 and 2009, The Sugar Thieves won the Phoenix Blues Society’s AZ. Blues Showdown and were voted best blues band in the state. They went on to compete in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis (Feb. 2009/Jan. 2010) where they were voted one of the top ten unsigned blues bands in the world in 09, and won the “People’s Choice” award at the Old Daisy Theatre in 2010. The Sugar Thieves were also voted best Americana band in 09 by the Phoenix New Times’ “Summer of Sound Series”, and nominated for Best Local Band in Phoenix as well. The singular vision that drives this band is their plight to reintroduce what some call a dying genre, blues music, to younger generations and those that have simply forgotten. But don’t think you’ve heard anything like it before. The Thieves put on a show that’s worth writing home about.

COLD SHOTT and THE HURRICANE HORNS started in Phoenix, AZ in 1990, as the 3-piece “COLD SHOT BLUES BAND” and is celebrating its 20 Year Anniversary in 2011.The band evolved, under the leadership of founder Ted Kowal (bass, manager) to become a powerful mainstay in the Arizona R&B, Blues, Funk and Soul music circuits. Adding a horn section and a formal name change to the band in 1991, COLD SHOTT and THE HURRICANE HORNS performs regularly at local clubs, community and municipal festivals, as well as music showcases and concerts.

The band features many veteran Arizona musicians most of whom have performed professionally since the 1960’s, not only in Arizona but all across the United States! Winning the 1999 Phoenix Blues Society Annual Blues Showdown sent the band to Memphis, TN to represent Arizona in the International Blues Challenge. The band was also chosen as the Year 2000 “Best Blues Band” as awarded by The Arizona Republic. They have opened up for or backed notable artists such as Delbert McClinton, Jerry Lawson, Guitar Shorty, Chico Chisum and Little Milton. 2010 saw them open for both Eddie Money and The Robert Cray Band and as an opening act for Curtis Salgado and The Tommy Castro Band in 2011!

This 8-piece group boasts a rocking rhythm section, powerful vocals and a 3-piece horn section…….the band is sure to make you get up and dance!
